Hidden Valley, Pa. – Hidden Valley Resort will open its slopes 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with limited skiing on the Valley-side slopes Saturday, Dec. 10 and Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, weather permitting. The Bobcat slope and Bobcat conveyor will be open on Saturday and with snowmaking in progress, the resort plans to add Continental and Rambler slopes and to operate the Sunrise/Sunset chairlift Sunday. Ski/board tickets will be $20 for adults and children. Group lessons will be offered at a pre-season rate of $15 per person and the Ski Lodge Express cafeteria and Glaciers Pub will be open.
The resort will close from Monday, Dec. 12 through Thursday, Dec. 15, and plans to reopen for the season on Friday, Dec. 16.
“With snowmaking in progress, we are ready to begin another successful season,” Scott Bender, Hidden Valley’s vice president of operations, said. “We are introducing several new programs with savings incentives that will help skiers, snowboarders and their families take full advantage of the snow sports and instruction available here at Hidden Valley.”
To encourage more guests to try skiing or snowboarding, the resort has set up several beginner incentives. On Mondays and Tuesdays (excluding holidays), each all-day $28 lift ticket includes a free beginner group lesson and free ski or snowboard equipment rental. Beginners completing their first lesson are also invited to repeat the same-level lesson at no charge on the same day.
Also, after completing a first-time beginner lesson, new skiers/boarders age 7 and older, will receive Hidden Valley’s Rewards Card containing discounts on lift tickets, equipment rentals, group or private lessons and buy-one-get-one lift tickets on Wednesdays.
“We want to make it easy and affordable for first time skiers and boarders to come back and make skiing and snowboarding a lifetime sport,” Bender said. The rewards card is valid through the end of the 2012 season.
In addition, a new beginner/intermediate terrain park is open this season on the site of the former half-pipe on Jaguar slope that features both natural and manmade features and a dedicated handle tow lift. Also new this year, skiers can access a 3.5-acre glades area on the North Summit. The Voyager Glades offer a gently-sloping, gradual area to complement the more challenging Cobra Glades.
Affordable lodging packages in the Four Seasons Lodges are available throughout the winter. For information or to make reservations, visit www.hiddenvalleyresort.com or call 814-443-8000.
